This weekend you started crawling Amy! You were sat watching James build a tower out of alphabet blocks and you wanted to go play, so you crawled forward to join in. You looked shocked & pleased when Mummy and Daddy started clapping and giving you praise. James wasn’t as impressed; when you arrived you knocked his tower over. James wasn’t pleased either to see Mummy and Daddy encouraging this kind of tower-demolishing behaviour, and Lily tried to help James by moving some of his blocks out of your reach…. But now you have learnt this crawling business, nothing is out of your reach!
Mummy and Daddy explained to James and Lily that you are only little and don’t understand yet, and that if you knock a tower oven, its fun to rebuild it. We explained its more fun to build towers for you to knock down! We promised that when you have a nap, its time to build really big towers, and do big girl and boy things.
Even though you know how to crawl now, you keep forgetting and occasionally get stuck near a wall, its only when your concentrating you remember to crawl forward and your fine! You like to hold onto your brother and sister too, and pull your self up to standing on them. James is really good with you and lets you stand, he keeps nice and still, and tells you kindly or moves your hand if you hurt him by accident. He likes to show Mummy what a big boy he is by helping you! Lily wants you to hold onto her too, and you do, but she moves out of your way when she wants to play or you hurt her by accident, and you get upset. Lily always wants you to hold onto her when you hold onto James.
Love you more than words can say,

This morning, James came running into our bedroom to tell us Amy was standing up in her cot! I remember when James and Lily first learnt this and Mummy and Daddy were the ones to find them, times have changed now and James is the first one out of bed on a morning, and he loves to check on us and his sisters, and he loves to tell us the morning has arrived! We don’t appreciate this as much as we should because we are tired, and sometimes because its very early, James thinks 6am is acceptable, Mummy disagrees!
Since Amy learnt how to crawl, bedtimes have been interesting if she is not ready for a sleep! I lay Amy down and she sits back up, and crawls to the other side of the cot. When I check on Amy, it always looks like she has been crawling in her sleep and I wonder if she is going to be a sleepwalker. We only have problems at bedtime because she settles better for her naps, and generally goes straight to sleep, clever girl!
Some of our friends came round for a play-date recently, and after playing for a while I picked Amy up to take her for a nap. Mummy’s friend was surprised that she was going to bed because she looked wide awake, but she laid down and settled straight to sleep. We have a really good routine where I lay her in her cot and she settles really well because we have been using the same routine since she was tiny. Its excellent for Mummy’s time, as she doesn’t rely on me to comfort her to sleep and I can focus on the big two, but I REALLY miss my Mummy cuddles, Amy is so used to sleeping in her cot she wont fall asleep in my arms any more!

I cant believe you are 9 months old already, your pregnancy seemed to last forever but it feels like the time you have been with us has flown so fast. You have settled in so well to our little family and you really do light up all our lives with your happiness and smiles. I still cant believe that me and Daddy managed to create something so perfect, I keep looking at your perfect fingers and toes in amazement, your beautiful eyes capture my heart, they are so full of happiness and love, especially when you look at your family.
This month has been magical, you have really made some amazing developments, firstly you have found your knees! At 8 months you hated being laided on your stomach and would cry to be sat back up (you have your Mummy well trained). At 9 months you have discovered you can lean over into a crawling position and sit back up whenever you feel like it. You have discovered if you get into the crawling position you can move about, albeit backwards mostly, and now you can move you have been exploring our living room. No matter how much Mummy vacuums and moves small toys out of your way, you always find something you shouldn’t and I have to retrieve it from your hand and mouth. You particularly like string, fluff and paper, the smaller the better. Mummy needs eyes in the back of her head!
On Christmas Eve you started cutting your first two front bottom teeth, and now they are growing nicely, but they are causing you some discomfort, we hate to see you unhappy and crying, but it never lasts long, and even when your in pain you always have a smile for Mummy, Daddy, James and Lily
James and Lily are more in love with you than ever, especially now you respond to them. James loves making you giggle and it makes him giggle too, which makes you giggle even more, such a lovely sound. Lily is a perfect big sister and will sit and chat to you for hours, she also helps mummy by taking your prize fluff balls off you. She loves to see you smile, and hates hearing your cry, and all the attention she gives you is purely to make you happy, she doesn’t mind if no-one is watching, it melts Mummy’s heart to see you both together.
You are a really good sleeper and always have been, we put you to bed with your brother and sister at 7pm and you sleep through until about 7am, or when your early-bird brother wakes you. The smiles we get when we see you are magical, but you wont settle until you have checked everyone is present, if you don’t see James or Lily you don’t stop looking until you know your little family are all nearby. Over Christmas Lily and James were going downstairs to see what our elf “Twinkle McJolly” had done overnight, and you were restless until you saw them.
You don’t like missing anything, except naps. Like your brother and sister, you refuse to fall asleep unless you are in your cot, you only fall asleep in the car or pushchair if you are desperately tired and I really miss the days you would fall asleep in my arms.
You love standing up, and are trying to pull yourself up on anything you can hold onto, especially legs! The look of delight on your face when you stand up is amazing, you are so proud and happy with yourself. Mummy and Daddy are try to let you stand as much as possible but your legs are still wobbly and you keep bumping back down on your bum, Mummy gets scared your going to hurt yourself, but even when you fall, it never deters you and you try to stand again. You keep trying to crawl forwards too, and you loose balance and hit your head on the floor, but Mummy or Daddy are always close by when you are sad and cuddles and kisses make you feel much better.
You have your Mummy well trained, if you want to be held you cry until you get your cuddle. Mummy is very skilled at doing housework one handed and you would prefer to be held even if it means swaying up and down as mummy cleans and tidies. Sometimes Mummy has to leave you if she has dangerous jobs to do, and your sad gaze follows me round the kitchen while you sob, you definitely know how to make your mummy feel bad!
The last nine month have been amazing, and we cant imagine life without you now. We are so excited to see you grow, you look very similar to beautiful Lily when she was your age, but people are starting to comment you have James smile, and that you look like Daddy. I am so lucky and proud to be your Mummy, and I cant wait to see you develop in to a beautiful young lady.
Mummy and Daddy will always be here for you, Always and forever x x x
